FAQ

Contract translation questions

Do I need a notarial seal to translate a contract? +
It depends on the use. For internal use, so your team understands it, or to present to a bank or private institution, a seal is generally not required. If it needs to be presented before a court, government authority, or consular procedure, then a certified translator's signature and seal are required. We specify which applies in your quote.
How much does contract translation cost? +
It depends on the number of pages, text density, and whether a notarial seal is required. Typical contracts of 10-20 pages without a seal are quoted individually. We give you a closed price before starting — no surprises at the end.
Can you maintain consistent terminology across multiple contracts? +
Yes. For recurring clients or multi-document projects, we work with a proprietary terminology glossary to ensure the same terms are translated consistently across all your contracts.
Do you handle confidential information? +
Yes, with complete discretion. If your company requires it, we can sign an NDA before starting. Files are deleted once the project is delivered.
How long does contract translation take? +
Depends on volume. Contracts of 1-5 pages: 1-2 business days. 10-20 pages: 3-4 days. For large or urgent contracts, we provide an exact date when quoting.
What format do you deliver the translation in? +
In signed PDF and editable Word, depending on your needs. If the contract is for negotiation and you want to edit it, we provide it in Word. If it is the final version for filing, in PDF.

Why LINGUAS for your contracts?

The difference between a generic translation and a legal translation is enormous. An "indemnification" clause is not translated the same way in all contexts — it depends on whether you are dealing with common law or Mexican civil law.

LINGUAS is led by an attorney with practical experience in notarial offices and law firms. We understand what the contract says, not just the words.

For projects requiring official validity, we coordinate with sworn translators authorized by the State of Jalisco Council of the Judiciary and the Supreme Court of Justice of the State of Jalisco.
